There are often baby and toddler related products that we discover that don’t really fit into the stairgate product range. Nonetheless, as fellow parents (and soon to be new parents again!) from time to time we come across something that we would like to share. The new place to achieve that is here at the stairgate.org.uk blog.
It has been a busy week for us as we spent the day at the Baby Show at the London Excel last Sunday. For those of you who have been before you will know that there is a lot to see and we certainly came away with a car full of goodies.

There were many stalls ranging from traditional baby furniture to the odd stall of pushy utility salesmen (at a baby show, really??) and even a Tarot card reader (again, no thanks!).

There were some great ideas that we hadn’t seen before. The first product that took our eye was a self warming baby bottle called a yoomi, not to be confused with miyoo which is a social networking site! You may have seen those click heat hand warmers where you click a metal disc inside the warmer and a reaction causes the liquid to crystalise releasing heat. To recharge you simply place it in boiling water until it is liquid again.
The Yoomi self warming bottle works in the same way. There is a plastic insert which fits inside the lid of the bottle. The outside of the insert has a maze of grooves which channel the milk from the bottle towards the teat. When you want warm milk you simply press the button on the bottle and the unit warms up and within 60 seconds you can be feeding your baby perfectly warm milk.
Because the unit only heats the milk which passes over the insert the remainder of the milk is fit for use later if required.

When our children were at bottle feeding age we had no end of trouble trying to find cafes and restaurants who were willing to heat up a baby’s bottle so this seems like a fantastic idea.
The bottles aren’t that cheap at around £22.50 for a bottle with insert but you can buy the bottles and inserts separately so we plumped for 6 8oz bottles and just 2 inserts.

Baby isn’t due until May so these little fellas won’t get a run out for a good few months yet but we will let you know how they fare in the heat of battle!
More of our favourite buys from the baby show next time.
