Child home safety
Lets face it. Small children are very inquisitive and have no sense of danger.
Pretty much everything in your house can present a danger to your child. Whilst you can’t glue everything down and keep all your belongings out of reach there are some practical steps that you can take to reduce the risk of your child accidentally injuring themselves.
Home safety is really a matter of common sense and vigilance.
Anything which is hot, heavy or sharp can cause your child serious injury so try and keep those things out of reach. If you leave things on your kitchen work surfaces that could pose a safety risk then push them well back from the edge and ensure that the flex from electrical items doesn’t hang over the edge.
A hob guard is an excellent idea so that your little darling can’t pull a pan of something hot over themselves or get their sweaty paws onto the hot surfaces.
Keeping children’s fingers out of the fire is easier said than done so make sure you have a sturdy fire guard. These can be easily folded away when not needed.
Almost everything in your house with corners seems to be purposely designed at toddler head height so be sure to get some corner cushions to protect your little one’s head (and of course the furniture !!).
If you are thinking of purchasing socket covers then please see our socket cover page for further information.
A cat may have nine lives but your baby doesn’t so be sure to protect your electrical sockets with socket covers too.
